Hyundai hires a brand new chief of design

Hyundai hired Philip Zak ex GM designer as chief of its North American Californian (in Irvine) design team. Hyundai Design Center of the The Korean carmaker has been with no chief designer in the firm since Joel Piaskowksi's departure, who joined later the Californian Advance Design center of Mercedes-Benz.

The portfolio of Zak includes General Motors's truck lines experience - where he worked, designed the Oldsmobile Bravada last-generation and Chevrolet Equinox, sedan mainstream lines - where created Pontiac G6 and the Cobalt by Chevrolet - to the newest posting as Europe GM top stylist, overseeing Opel, Saab and Vauxhall.

Zak spent twenty years at the various operations of GM and he will have huge shoes filling up as he replaces the great man who was responsible partially for the critically-acclaimed, fabulous Genesis sedan and coupe from Hyundai.
