Mitsubishi showing off the Outlander GT Prototype

The presence of Mitsubishi in New York Auto Show this year will be highlighted gracefully by the Outlander GT Prototype model — a preview of an upcoming redesign to the well known compact SUV crossover of the automaker. This new Outlander car borrows heavily , as you'll see, from the sedan Lancer — see 'Jet Fighter' grille — growing the family resemblance.

This prototype's wrapped with brand new technologies, like the Idle Neutral Logic, that shifts automatically the transmission right into neutral, this during car standstill. Other highlights: improved performance plus economy of fuel from its stronger V6 SOHC MIVEC, 3.0-liter engine and the Super-All-Wheel-Control System that offers improved control and handling.

Updates up front, but the hind-quarter of the Outlander received no attention apparently from the design department at Mitsubishi. The official crossover revealing will be tomorrow morning. We got a sneak view of the changed crossover at the International Auto Show in New York.
