BMW shows off its M3 GT4 2009

BMW does not want the GranTurismo MC Maserati getting all the spotlight on the 24-hour race this year on the Nürburgring's Nordschleife. The 23rd race in May will be the debut run of the M3 GT4 from BMW.

BMW imports Augusto Farfus, Andy Priaulx and Jorg Muller from the WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) giving the M3 GT4 quite a workout. So, while the BMW brand has been a force of the circuit WTCC, it has a GT4 class uphill battle. It’s won by some American auto, the Mustang FR500C Ford, for the past 2 years (German driver). Priaulx and Müller will be there, behind the BMW M3 GT4 wheel when they run in the Eifel area for Schubert Motorsport. The 2 drivers, who are involved normally in a fight for fame for BMW in the FIA WTCC (World Touring Car Championship), will be joining forces with journalists (motor racing) Jochen Übler (DE) and Marcus Schurig (DE).

Mario Theissen, BMW Motorsport Director affirms: 'Although we will not be represented by a works team at this year’s 24-hour race, our Customer Racing programme ensures that our fans will still see plenty of BMW racing cars and BMW works drivers. We will be particularly interested in how the new BMW M3 GT4 performs, which is fielded by Schubert Motorsport in cooperation with ‘sport auto’. Jörg Müller and Andy Priaulx are two former overall winners in the Eifel. Spectators can certainly look forward to an exciting weekend'.
