Opel brings you Insignia OPC 2010

We already were envious of the countries in Europe that got Opel/Vauxhall Insignia, with the OPC amazing makeover now, we're jealous as that sleek sedan unit gets the go-fast appearances and an all-new turbocharger. And for you (not familiar): BMW has M, Mercedes has AMG, Opel has OPC (meaning Opel Performance Center).

The soul of the Insignia OPC is taking the V6 2.6-liter engine used already in the sedan unit, and then is adding a turbo plus a brand new exhaust system. Output: from 260 hp up to 325 hp. The sedan model has now a zero to sixty mph time – around 6 seconds, and maximum speed - limited (in Germany at least) to 155 mph. 'I was personally involved in the development of the Insignia OPC and I very much enjoyed extensive testing on the most demanding race track of the world, the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Our target was to rival the 'best of the best' ' said Hans Demant, the Managing Director Adam Opel GmbH.

What we've seen in the OPC wrap is the all-new front bumper plus body kit set, as well as nineteen-inch or optional lightweight twenty-inch wheels. So, working behind the scenes on Insignia is: Adaptive 4x4 system, eLSD (electronic rear limited slip differential), all-new front axle, pplus Brembo brakes. Adjustable suspension for 3 modes: Normal, OPC and Sport. 'The Insignia OPC marks the beginning of a new era for our OPC portfolio; still bold, but also more mature and refined, and more ambitious than ever. The OPC epitomizes the Insignia experience: dynamic and refined' affirms Alain Visser, the GM Europe Vice President Opel.
