Daimler buys portion of Tesla

Daimler, the oldest auto manufacturer in the world, has just got a sizable portion in the American car builder all-electric, Tesla. So, even before the ten % sale, both firms were working side by side together using the lithium-ion batteries of Tesla in the Smart electric auto of Mercedes Benz. Dr. Thomas Weber, Member of Board at Daimler AG said 'our strategic partnership is an important step to accelerate the commercialization of electric drives globally' because (Benz says) the future will be shaped up of electrically assisted cars at least.

Elon Musk, Tesla Motors Chairman and CEO said 'Daimler has set the benchmark for engineering excellence and vehicle quality for more than a century. It is an honor and a powerful endorsement of our technology that Daimler would choose to invest in and partner with Tesla'.
