Not giving anything to the Caterham Seven RS, there's an announcement that Ariel made for more details on the future Atom 500 model. Delivering a fabulous one thousand horsepower / ton, the 2-seater will be using a V8 2.4-liter from RS Performance, making it 1 of the most radical cars in the world.

The 500 horsepower peak output is achieved at a fabulous 10,000 rpm. Peak torque – 3 hundred pound-feet - 8,500 rpm. Its engine, that's worth over 200,000 Dollars alone, is fitted to a 6-speed Sadev transmission having paddle shifters.

The Atom 500 has a unique color theme for wheels, chassis and bodywork mixed with panels from carbon fibre and carbon fibre aerofoils. Plus: chromoly aerofoil wishbones, steering wheel (integrated function), Alcon 4-piston brake calipers, plus Dymag wheels from magnesium. 'This is an interesting project for us and an experimental departure from what we normally produce' affirmed Simon Saunders, Ariel Director. 'For a few customers the Atom 500 will be the ultimate expression of lightweight performance and represents the outer limits of what is achievable in a road registered car. We also use this sort of project to explore the possibilities of how we can improve our standard cars'.
The Atom 500 unit will start production at the all-new Ariel plant located right there. Ariel is planning to make only 25 Atom 500 units. No prices have been announced yet, but a cost tag of over 300,000 Dollars is expected. We''ll see...
