Ex-GM exec now works for Russia's GAZ

Former purchasing GM chief Bo Andersson left apparently the Detroit carmaker for a position involving Russia's 2nd biggest carmaker, GAZ, that's a partner in the Opel acquisition, Magna International-led planned. Andersson's serving as chief consultant of the GAZ to the board of directors of the automaker.

'A possibility to be appointed chairman of (the) GAZ board of directors has been discussed with him previously, and the shareholders hope that this candidate will be elected' GAZ affirmed in a statement for the media. Last week Andersson announced his GM departure.

Based in Nizhny Novgorod - the Detroit of Russia, GAZ's expected now to get Sberbank's 35% of Opel when this proposed deal is all done. Prior to the Detroit post, Andersson worked for Saab and as Europe’s purchasing man at GM.
