Cummins renegotiating the diesel Dodge Ram contract with Chrysler

Court documents unveiled, earlier this week, that as a part of the bankruptcy proceedings of Chrysler, Dodge canceled its Cummins contract to make light diesel engines duty pickups. However, Indiana-based Cummins, Columbus, just affirmed that it's attempting on renegotiating the deal with the post-Chapter 11 all-new Chrysler.

Mark Land - Cummins spokesman reported to the Associated Press... Cummins, which had designated already a Southern Indiana production line for the diesel powertrains light-duty, is renegotiating actively the contract with Chrysler plus its brand new Fiat parent.

Also, the diesel engine maker affirmed that it will be reopening the idled factory that makes engines for the heavy duty Dodge trucks as soon it gets word from Chrysler about the plans of resuming the trucks production.
