Tata cuts Land Rover, Jaguar jobs

Tata Motors - Indian auto firm was pushed right into its 1st loss in 8 years in part thanks to sluggish sales came from its brand new-bought luxury models, Land Rover and Jaguar. Ravi Kant - the carmaker's Vice Chairman, indicated this: Tata just might trim production further and the jobs for keeping pace with that reduced demand.

Kant, at a news conference affirmed 'There has already been 2,000 job losses. We may be looking at more job losses, more plant shutdowns'.

The new-unified Jaguar Land Rover, ex Ford Motor Company name, posted a pretax of around 465 million Dollars loss during the 1st 10 months of the fiscal year 2008-09. It's not clear just where this stops (cuts) could be within Land Rover and Jaguar.
