Ford is replacing GM as no.1 sales leader in the Canadian territory

For a long time, GM was the champion, undisputed in auto sales in Canada right among the American automakers. It seemed GM’s invincibility in the north would never be... challenged, that's right until Ford really turned the tables on... in June.

Ford June sales in Canada monthly were with 27,408 autos sold, supplanting GM on the top of for the 1st time in fifty years. Ford’s sales - a bit over 5,000 unit more than General Motors - 22,334 cars. Ford’s surge surprising on top was in big part caused by this huge demand for Ford vehicles locally-manufactured including Crown Victoria, Lincoln Town Car and Grand Marquis. The high demand for Crown Victoria among Canadians is because these vehicles are largely used like fleets of cabs (taxi) and police cruisers in the country.

'This is a historic day for Ford in Canada' David Mondragon, president and chief executive, Ford of Canada, said in a release. 'Consumers are drawn to the quality, design and value of our vehicles and we’re going to keep the momentum growing with great offers this summer'.
