Buick confirms that Regal is coming to USA in 2010

A company executive of General Motors said that the American automaker plans to introduce Buick Regal, a model made for the Chinese market, to the North America in late 2010 or early 2011. This news comes as a follow up to the other rumors that suggested the idea was being taken into consideration. Buick Regal is somewhat similar with the redesigned 2010 Buick LaCrosse , having the same design language.

According to Roger Knoebel, a company executive of General Motors, the Buick Regal will have a lower price level compared to the 28.000 $ paid for the LaCrosse. While the Lucerne model is expected to be discontinued in 2010, Buick is expected to have a lot of market coverage with the Regal, Enclave and LaCrosse models.

It was originally expected that the new and very successful Opel Insignia to be imported to the USA under the name Saturn Aura. This will not be the case because the Saturn brand is no longer part of the General Motors portfolio, so it is up to Buick to do this instead.

Regal has been on the Chinese market since October last year, being offered with a four cylinder 2.4 liter engine that has an output of 164 horsepower or with a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0 liter engine that develops 211 horsepower.
