The 2010 Smart ForTwo willl be more powerful while having the same fuel consumption

Smart has presented the 2010 ForTwo model. The new ForTwo has a revised diesel engine along with the petrol engines that have received a few small optimizations. The revised three cylinder diesel engine now develops 54 horsepower, which is 21% more in comparison to the previous engine. Also, the diesel engine has a maximum torque of 130 Nm, which is a higher level by 18% in comparison to the previous form of the engine. The revised diesel engine makes the Smart ForTwo more agile, the automobile that is part of the mini segment of cars manages to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 16.8 seconds. Maybe the most important thing is that, while being more powerful and more faster, the combined fuel consumption remains at the same level of 3.4 liters/100 kilometers (69 mpg) while the CO2 emission stay at the same level of 88 grams/kilometer.

For the range of petrol engines, the engineers working for Smart have managed to optimize the engine and the transmission management so that it can respect the exhaust gas standards of the much more demanding EU5.

The 2010 Smart ForTwo will have features like new contrast components in pearl black for the interior as well as a new folding armrest, which is going to be available optionally. Other features that will be available optionally are the smart hands-free system with a color display and extensive multimedia functions.

The 2010 Smart ForTwo can be ordered now in Europe with an unchanged price tag for the version that come with a petrol engine while the 54 horsepower CDI has a base price level of 11.790 euros in Germany.
