Volkswagen sells more cars in China than in Germany

Volkswagen Group sold more cars in China than they did in their very own home market of Germany, for the first time in history. Volkswagen sold 652.000 cars in China, a number that is bigger in comparison to the 631.900 cars sold in Germany in the same period, more precisely the first six months of this year. Still, Volkswagen isn`t very concerned because both performances represent an increase in demand for their own products.

The German automaker has marked an increase of 22.7% in China in the first six months of 2008, while the sales in Germany raised by 18.3%. Still, things aren`t all fine and dandy for the German automaker. Volkswagen recorded a 5% loss in demand on the global level. This overall bad performance is caused by the very low demand of new cars that is currently recorded in both Europe and North America. Volkswagen sold 1.662.900 cars in all of Europe and 221.900 cars in North America.

It is important to say that these numbers of sold cars include the entire Volkswagen Group lineup of cars, including cars made by Volkswagen, Audi , Seat, Skoda , Bugatti, Bentley and Lamborghini.
