Toyota will be making in France Yaris-based hybrid

Toyota is readying rapidly a complete hybrid powertrains portfolio for the market in Europe and there are rumors that this automaker from Japan is considering making in France its Yaris unit - based hybrid. This month, earlier, Toyota confirmed it would make a hybrid that's based on Auris, which is smaller – slotting below Yaris – in U.K.

This hybrid model will be constructed also in Japan, says Asahi, retailing for around 15,800 Dollars. Designed to rival with Honda’s future Fit hybrid auto, the platform hybrid of Yaris would be then based on 2011 Yaris, revised. And the powertrain - based on the upgraded 4-cylinder motor of Yaris, though some additional details were found.

Toyota plans on developing a more zonal-specific portfolio with products, focusing on its efforts on hybrids in Europe despite all the tepid (relatively) initial reception for units like... Prius, for example.
