Ford is keeping a watchful eye on its inventory

The Focus, no.1 best selling car on the Car Allowance Rebate System, Ford – the U.S. automaker is watching carefully its inventories, looking for any distress sign, considering a production boost even. But, the firm will not decide anything until September.

'We are going to continue to manage our production to keep our inventory in control' Lewis Booth - Ford CFO reported for Autonews. After the August sales numbers, that decision will be taken.

At the July's end, Ford saw a fifty-day inventory supply. The trick stays in the decision: boosting or not the production - seeing what Ford clients would choose this month the Blue Oval because of the CARS and wouldn't consider otherwise acquiring a Ford. 'Over time, things will settle and we will continue to make sure we are managing our inventories to keep them under control' affirmed Booth.

Ford Focus is as you know the best selling model since CARS was launched last week; Ford units (most of them) experienced some sales raises in July: Ford Fusion was up with 66 %, Mercury Milan - 60 %, Ford Escape with 94 %, Mercury Mariner was up with 71 %, Ford Focus - 44 % and Ford Ranger saw a 65 % raise; Ford hybrid sales were up 323 %. 'Our products, our dealers and our advance preparation enabled us to leverage the program and drive traffic and sales to another level' said Ken Czubay, the Ford vice president. 'In addition, we achieved a sales increase even though we decreased incentive spending in an increasingly competitive environment'.
