2011 Nissan LEAF on the road

It seems that the future of vehicles is an ecological one. Hybrid cars are more and more present on the market, with cars like Toyota Prius and Honda Insight having a high number of sales. Also, all electric cars seem to make their way onto the market, slowly but secure. Tesla Motors for example is one of the companies that proved that high performance cars do not necessarily need to run on petrol. Nissan is also starting to make its way into the electric car world. The Japanese automaker has developed an electric compact hatchback that they hope will sell in a very large number. Last week, Nissan has released a completely electric car that is actually ready to go intro production. The name of the electric vehicle is LEAF and will be sold on the North American and European markets, along with the home market of Japan. The delivery of the first car is expected to begin somewhere in the end of 2010. The LEAF is a compact hatchback with five doors that gets its power from an electric engine that has an output of 107 HP. The electric engine gets its energy from a group of lithium-ion batteries that are somewhat like the ones that are used in the modern laptops, cell phones and a couple of other electrical appliances. Nissan has launched today a video of the LEAF electrical car in motion.
