BMW sales in July are down with 12.6 percent

BMW – the carmaker from Germany reported a low July in sales; recording a drop of 12.6 % in models sold, from 125,792 last year to 109,923 in 2009. from January to July, BMW had 725,377, 18.6 % down if you compare it to the same time-line last year.

'Our sales performance again improved slightly in July – and MINI was even back on its growth path. Over the course of the next months we will see BMW Group sales continue their gradual upward trend – not least as a result of several new models. I am confident we will continue to expand our market position in the premium segment for 2009 as a whole and be able to maintain our position as leading premium manufacturer' stated BMW board member, Ian Robertson.

MINI had 0.3 % raise, small but important - the 1st growth since 2008's September. It sold in July 19,281, up from 2008 - 19,224.

The Rolls Royce luxury brand had 55.9 % drop, selling from the start of 2009 until July just 374 cars.

BMW had a decline of 14.9 % to 90,597, despite a big climb in volume (up 57.9 %) for the 7 Series and the Z4's great performance. The automaker hopes the 4-wheel drive 7 series arrival this fall plus the X1 debut and 5 Series GT one's will make the numbers look a lot better by the 2009's end.
