The German automaker company Audi has recently launched the top model of the A5 Cabriolet range, the Audi S5. Orders for the new Audi S5 can be made starting from today from Great Britain at the beginning. The price tag is of 42.245 pounds but it can very easily go a lot higher if the customer wants a lot of optional features. The first happy owners will get their cars in October, so they will still have to wait. The most powerful version of the Audi S5 will have a 3 liter six cylinder supercharged engine that is also used in the models S4 Sedan and Avant. The 3.0 liter supercharged engine develops no less than 333 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque from 2500 revs per minute to 4850 revs per minute.
The new Audi S5 will be offered with the German automaker`s own Quattro four wheel drive system that will be linked to a seven speed S tronic twin clutch sports transmission. According to Audi, the new S5 will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and will have an electronically limited maximum speed of 250 km/h.
In my opinion, the car looks pretty good and I am sure it would have been a real success for Audi in normal market conditions. Considering the financial and economical crisis, I do not think that the S5 model will be a success, but more likely a disappointment for the German automaker in terms of sales.
