10th of August 2009 An extremely strange car was caught in a couple of images somewhere on a highway in the southwest of the United States of America. The extremely peculiar car looks like an Audi A8 with a short wheelbase with an A6 chassis and an upside down Mitsubishi badge placed on a front grill inspired from a jet fighter. Sounds like the car of your nightmare? Well let`s take it one step at a time. The car seen on a highway in the southwest of the United States of America is certainly not a Mitsubishi. From what the car looks like, we are almost certain the car spotted in the images below is an Audi. After a preliminary inspection of the photos, you would be tempted to say that the car was an Audi A6 prototype doing some road tests. But, if you look more carefully at the details, you will see that they all point out to a revised Audi A8 prototype doing some tests.
Audi actually has scheduled to present at the Frankfurt Auto Show that will take place in September a new generation of the A8 model. Still, in a very awkward manner, Audi has failed to provide any details whatsoever regarding the next generation of the Audi A8. The new generation of the Audi A8 is expected to make its way on the market somewhere in the second half of the next year.
If you look carefully at the styling features of the car shown in the two pictures below, you will see that the long, swooping C-pillar, the furrowed-brow headlights, bonnet ridges and linebacker shoulder lines seem to clearly match the description of an Audi top of the line sedan.
