10th of August 2009 The South Korean automaker Kia has officially revealed the new generation of their Sorento SUV. The first official details and images have been released publicly before the public debut that will take place in September during the Frankfurt Auto Show. The completely new generation of the Kia Sorento is both lower and longer than the former car. The new Kia Sorento has the new standard Kia grille and has a significantly more luxurious and spacious cabon. The length of the new generation Kia Sorento is of almost 470 centimeters. Also, the new Kia Sorento has a lower aerodynamic drag figure in comparison to the older version, more precisely a figure of 0.38 in comparison to the 0.43 of the current version of the Sorento.
The new generation of the Kia Sorento will most likely get its power from a new 2.2 liter diesel engine that will have an output of 195 horsepower and 421 Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to either a six speed manual transmission or a six speed automatic transmission.
Mister Panu Vainamo, General Manager Marketing official of Kia Motors Europe, stated that ``With the new Kia Sorento, we have created an all-new, `Highline Cruiser` that we believe offers buyers the benefits of an exciting all-rounder with a much broader appeal``. He continued by saying that ``Kia Engineers have ditched the original Sorento`s body-on-frame structure and designed an all-new monocoque bodysheell, achieving a weight loss of up to 215 kg, greatly improving fuel economy and contributing to a more controlled ride than expected from a 4X4``.
The new generation of the Kia Sorento also has some high tech features like a panoramic glass sunroof, keyless entry, in-mirror reversing camera and an engine start button.
