Dodge Viper might get Ferrari engines

Some say that a muscle car is just a penis extension. In reality, a muscle car can give you fabulous sensations, can make you feel like you are living your life to the maximum. There was a period when traditional muscle cars like the Ford Mustang of the Chevrolet Camaro were left behind in terms of sales and popularity by a new muscle car that effectively hit the market. The car I am talking about is the Dodge Viper. In the second half of the 1990s the Dodge Viper was maybe the most wanted car. Now, more than a decade later, the situation is extremely unpleasant. The Dodge Viper is the subject of many rumors since Chrysler hit bankruptcy in June. The latest rumor is by far the best lately. According to an American magazine, the CEO of Fiat, Mister Sergio Marchionne, is currently trying to set a plan according to which Ferrari plans to make a derivate of the their next generation V8 engine to create a V10 engine that will be used in the now legendary muscle car.

This would actually be a smart move that not only will re-launch the Viper as an iconic muscle car on the market, but would also help the Fiat Group to cut costs. Initial rumors claim that the V10 engine will be based on a modular ninety degree V8 engine. The layout of the engine would be different from brand to brand. For example, Ferrari would use a flat-plane crank layout, while Maserati will use a cross-plane crank. To keep things traditional, the Dodge Viper version of the engine is supposed to get 2 cylinders and employ a pushrod setup. Still, this information is just rumor, so do not take it as granted. But, if things actually would happen the way the rumors have it, in a couple of years we might see a Dodge Viper with a Ferrari engine. Very interesting.
