GM sold 1 million cars this year in China

General Motors is a real hit in China. The American maker has sold recently the 1 millionth car this year in China, a country that laughed when talked about recession and helped new vehicle sales for many firms.

Ye Banjun - lucky owner of the 1000 000th GM model sold in China in 2009, a Buick LaCrosse silver sedan. The President and Managing Director at GM China Group, Kevin Wale said 'For more than a decade, GM has been focused on working with our joint ventures to meet the needs of our local customers. As the customer is our first priority, GM will continue to roll out new models under our portfolio of six brands to win over more Chinese vehicle buyers and remain ahead of the competition'.

'While we are proud of our achievements, GM and our employees remain fully committed to keeping up the momentum. We will further leverage the global resources of the new General Motors Company to offer vehicle buyers across China an unmatched selection of products and services'.

According to General Motors figures, this is the 3rd consecutive year GM and its China exceed one million cars sold in that country. The 1st time when General Motors reached this level was in 2007 when GM became 'the first global automaker to surpass 1 million unit sales in China in a calendar year'.
