Kia Soul 2010 got IIHS high safety award

Kia is doing great in America where this South Korean firm posted high sales after the government CARS incentives. The over-talked Soul got recently a Top Safety Pick from IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) after it gt rated as 'good' in all the tests - side, rear and frontal impact.

Michael Sprague, the vice president, marketing for Kia Motors America (KMA) said 'Despite the current economic and industry situation, Soul continues to post strong sales and is a proven consumer favorite for its head-turning style, incredible value, numerous personalization options and long list of standard safety features. Safety in particular continues to be a top purchase consideration for consumers in today's market, and having Soul honored with a 'Top Safety Pick' further strengthens its position as a vehicle that offers the entire package'.

IIHS isn't the 1st organization giving the Soul a top safety rating. In June this Kia unit got a five-star rating after the EuroNCAP accident tests, scoring 7 % in Adult Occupant Protection, 86 % in Child Protection and 86 % at equipment Safety Assist and just 39% for the Pedestrian protection.

Kia Soul boasts in Europe a large array of basic features of safety, like dual front airbags, full-length curtain and front side airbags, height-adjustable seatbelts at front having pretensioners and load-limiters belt plus 3 3-point seat belts ready for the seat occupants on rear. ESP comes basic too, but just for Western Europe countries; the other gets it as a plant-fitted setting.
