The Nurburgring circuit will have the fastest fire fighting vehicle in the world. To be more precise, I am talking about a specially modified Nissan GT-R that will have the role to have an extremely fast response time in case of emergencies on the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit that is located in Germany. The modified GT-R fire fighter is a token of Nissan`s appreciation ford the Nurburgring Nordschelife operator that was created in collaboration with a company named M&M Automotive. Well, M&M Automotive is a company that has its headquarters in the German city of Bonn that is specialized in motor sports and car development. The Nissan GT-R`s rear seats have been replaced with a fifty liter water tank that was secured with a roll cage. Still, the mechanical hardware of the car has not been modified whatsoever.
The fire fighting Nissan GT-R has also received an extinguisher system that has a medium pressure (20 bars to be more precise) along with a winding device for the hose. The list of upgrades is completed by an additional radio communication system and a new set of Recaro sport seats. Nissan and M&M Automotive claim that the car will be able to fight fire for around two minutes on a single tank of water, having a foam reach of around 18 meters and a 20 meter hose.
The extra equipment has made the fire fighting Nissan GT-R heavier by 440 pounds (200 kilograms).Still, the Japanese automaker claims that even so, the fire fighting Nissan GT-R can do a lap around the Nurburgring Nordschleife in under eight minutes (It is well known that the standard GT-R has set a record lap time of 7 minutes and 26.70 seconds). Well, who would have imagined a fire fighting Nissan GT-R? I think that the car is still extremely fast even though it is a bit heavier, but in my opinion the tank of only 50 liters of water is too small to stop a fire. Come on, who ever heard of extinguishing a car on fire with only 50 liters of water? At least 100 liters would have been much better. Anyway, we will have to wait and see how the car will perform on the Nurburgring.
