New Volkswagen Golf Plus BlueMotion return 65.7 mpg

Interested customers can start ordering the new Volkswagen Golf Plus BlueMotion that is set to leave the assembly line this October. The German automaker has revealed the price tags for the British market along with a couple of details. In the Great Britain the Volkswagen Golf Plus BlueMotion S has a starting price of 17.570 pounds while the BlueMotion SE has a base price of 18.920 pounds. The most recent addition to the range of Volkswagen Golf versions uses a 1.6 liter diesel engine that has an output of 105 horsepower and has features like revised gear ratios, start/stop, low rolling resistance tires and regenerative braking systems. All of these features translate into a fuel consumption of 4.3 liters per 100 kilometers (equivalent to 54.7 mpg USA and 65.7 mpg UK) while keeping a level of CO2 emissions of 114 grams per kilometer.

According to Volkswagen, these figures represent an improvement of 11% in terms of fuel economy and a 10% reduction of the level of CO2 emissions in comparison to the current Golf Plus BlueMotion that gets its power from a 1.9 liter TDI engine that has an output of 105 horsepower. The engineers over at Volkswagen have done a great job in achieving such a low level of fuel consumption out of only a TDI engine. Actually, the new Volkswagen Golf Plus BlueMotion manages a lower level of fuel consumptions than some hybrid cars, a great performance if you consider that it has only a diesel engine.
