Volkswagen – the German maker announced a recall (a voluntary one) involving the 2009-2010 Jetta SportWagen, Jetta, Eos and GTI in America, after seeing that some cars having the DSG transmission system could be damaged. So, this recall is applying to 13,500 cars made between September last year and August current year.
'Models affected by the recall include the Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, GTI, and Eos built between September 2008 and August 2009. The recall applies to 2009 model year vehicles along with a very limited number of 2010 model year vehicles' stated VW’s notification.
This problem is about a temperature sensor on Direct Shift Gearbox (the DSG) transmission, that does not have other consequences, serious ones, just the lighting up of the dashboard warning lamps.
VW still warns you that in a few cases, transmission may be shifting into neutral, affecting possibly the driver if this is happening in an overtake action, that may lead to an accident. 'A small number of these may be affected by a faulty temperature sensor in the DSG transmission. Failure of the temperature sensor could result in illuminated warning lamps in the dashboard, and in rare instances the transmission may shift into neutral' said the notification.
VW affirmed that all the owners (13,500) will be contacted soon by the firm making an appointment, remedying this problem. 'In the coming weeks, owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by Volkswagen of America to schedule an appointment at their local dealer to have their vehicle inspected, and if necessary, have the vehicle repaired'. Plus, if you have concerns, questions you can call Volkswagen Loyalty Center at 1-800-444-8982.
