Ford begins on September 8 the Romanian production

Ford starts production at the new factory in Craiova - Romania, on 8th of September. It will make the Transit Connect, unit build also in Turkey, scheduled to be released next year worldwide.

Daewoo used this new facility; the US maker bought it back this year in March. For Transit Connect, the firm expects great things; offered in America with a beginning cost 21,475 Dollars.

Len Deluca, Commercial Truck director at Ford stated last week for the press: 'We see rising optimism among small business owners and strong demand for arriving Transit Connect vehicles among this group as reflections of an encouraging economic uptick'.

Ford continued 'With cautious optimism, entrepreneurs continue to judiciously evaluate costs and seek viable, efficient solutions for their businesses. Swift sale of the initial allocation of Transit Connect vehicles arriving at Ford dealerships nationwide provides additional evidence that small business owners are anxious to invest in a useful tool to help them work smarter, more efficiently and more effectively' .

The Connect is made on a front-wheel dedicated drive commercial car platform, having Duratec 2.0l DOHC powerplant, making 22 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on highway; fitted to an automatic transaxle 4-speed – overdrive, it has 136 horsepower on 6,300 rpm plus 128 ft.-lb. torque - 4,750 rpm.
