Dodge has decided to raise the curtains off the 2010 Caliber. As you all might know, the earlier versions of the Dodge Caliber had a very cheap, poor interior quality. Now, after being struck by the economical and financial crisis, it seems that the people over at Chrysler have finally decided that it is time to improve the build quality of the interior of the Dodge Caliber . After improving the interior build quality of the Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot, Chrysler could not leave out the Dodge Caliber, and decided to give it a new interior with a redesigned dashboard. On the dashboard we can see more premium, soft-touch materials and detailed chromed accents.
The 2010 Dodge Caliber has some other new features, including a center console with armrest split-lid that is padded with soft-touch materials, additional ``cubby space``, new door trim panels, center storage bin and larger climate controls.
Dodge`s new Caliber will get its power from a 2.2 liter common rail diesel engine that has an output of 163 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. This engine, in comparison to the previous diesel engine, has a 25% bigger towing capacity (more precisely 1500 kilograms), delivers 16% more power and 3% more torque. The 2.2 liter common rail diesel engine has an average fuel consumption of 5.8 liters per 100 kilometers, a figure that is lower than the 6.1 liters per 100 kilometers of the older diesel engine by 5%. It is very important to mention that this 2.2 liter common rail diesel engine will only be available for the European market.
For the other markets, Dodge has decided to replace the old 1.8 liter petrol engine with a 2.0 liter engine that has an output of 156 horsepower and 190 Nm of torque. The official debut of the 2010 Dodge Caliber will take place this month during the Frankfurt Auto Show.
