Second promotional movie of the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics launched

The German automaker BMW has launched the second promotional movie of the Vision EfficientDynamics. In this video the designers and engineers working for BMW tell the story behind the concept named Vision EfficientDynamics.

As most of you might know, the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics is a lightweight coupe that has a 2+2 seat configuration, with a plug-in hybrid drive technology. According to the German automaker, this plug-in hybrid drive will make the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics to have performances similar to the M3 or M5 while having a level of fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions as low as the one of the Toyota Prius. The heart of the concept is represented by a high performance diesel-electric hybrid system that combines a small diesel engine with two electric motors and a double clutch transmission with six gears.

The BMW Vision EfficientDynamics has an all wheel drive. The power comes from a 1.5 liter three cylinder turbo diesel engine that has an output of 163 horsepower and 214 lb-ft of torque, an electric engine that has an output of 33 horsepower and 214 lb-ft of torque and a second electric engine that has an output of 80 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque although it can produce 112 horsepower for a period of 30 seconds and 139 horsepower for a burst of 10 seconds. If we add all this figures, we will see that the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics will be pushed forward by a total power of 356 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque.
