Dany Bahar is the new CEO of Lotus

Lotus – the British maker just made the announcement of its new CEO appointment, Dany Bahar, starting from 1ts of October. Bahar was previously Ferrari senior vice president, in charge of merchandising, licensing and marketing. He began his career in management as corporate projects leadman for Red Bull GmbH, setting up the strategy of Formula One for Scuderia Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing.

Dato' Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh, the Chariman at Lotus said when he announced the appointment: 'With Dany’s track record in motorsports and Ferrari, we strongly believe that we have found the right CEO to enhance the Lotus image, brand and reputation as a world class sportscar and engineering company. With a strong management team already in place, we are confident this objective can be attained'.

Dany Bahar continued 'I am looking forward to taking on the challenges as CEO of this legendary and iconic company with a peerless motorsport history. Lotus has a worldwide reputation for innovative engineering and superb sportscars that lead the world in efficiency, design and dynamics. With the recent launch of the award-winning Evora, there is proof that Lotus is better placed than many to capitalize on the rapidly changing automotive market. I can’t wait to get my plans underway in October'.

Bahar replaces Mike Kimberley (who stepped down as firm's CEO, due to some health problems). Mike Kimberley, in 1969, joined Lotus as Continuous Engineering's manager. He was appointed, in 1976, the Lotus Cars' managing director, and then, bye 1980, Lotus Engineering's managing director. In 1982 he became the CEO of the company, following Colin Chapman's death.
