Volkswagen Golf R will have AWD

We had previously written that the German automaker Volkswagen is preparing a Volkswagen Golf R sporty hatchback for the important German event Frankfurt Auto Show. Sources from inside the Volkswagen company point out that the Volkswagen Golf R will use a four wheel drive system that will most probably be similar to the one available for the Audi S3. A couple of days ago we were not certain whether Volkswagen will use an all wheel drive system just like for the Volkswagen Golf R32 (that the Volkswagen Golf R will replace) or if they will go with a similar front wheel drive as the one used for the Volkswagen Golf GTI. Now, thanks to this inside information that has leaked online, we are quite certain that the Volkswagen Golf R will have an all wheel drive system.

It is also quite certain that the Volkswagen Golf R will get its power from the same 2.0 liter turbocharged engine that has an output of 270 horsepower that is also found on the Volkswagen Scirocco R. Another interesting information is that the Volkswagen Golf R will be available in two versions, one that has five doors and one that has three doors. Potential customers will also have to choose between a standard six speed manual gearbox and an optional dual clutch Volkswagen transmission. The performance figures are different according to which of the two options is used. The Volkswagen Golf R will be able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds when equipped with the six speed manual gearbox while being able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds when equipped with the dual clutch transmission.
