2011 Hyundai Sonata makes its world debut at Frankfurt

In the last couple of years the world auto market has suffered a lot of changes. I think that no one would have imagined that some years later everyone will eagerly await the public debut of a Hyundai. The South Korean automaker finally made the public debut of its 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The 2011 Hyundai Sonata looks very good. The new generation of Hyundai cars is a huge improvement in terms of design in comparison to the previous generation of Hyundai models.

Euisun Chung, Vice Chairman of Hyundai, has stated that ``The Sonata will set a new standard for world class mid size sedans with state of the art technology, superior build quality and emotional design``. He continued by saying that ``The new Sonata will raise Hyundai`s brand values``.

The 2011 Hyundai Sonata is the sixth generation of Sonata and it is clearly a lot better looking than the previous generations of the Hyundai Sonata . In terms of design some people might say that the 2011 Hyundai Sonata has some design lines and patterns borrowed from the trendy new segment called the four door coupe thanks to the stubby rear end and the swooping roofline. I would say that there is a hint of a four door coupe in the 2011 Hyundai Sonata , but just enough to make it look better and not too much so that it looks horrible. I can say that the exact needed quantity of a four door coupe has been used in the 2011 Hyundai Sonata.

The interior of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata has a similar layout as other modern cars of the South Korean automaker like the next generation Hyundai Tucson that is called Hyundai ix35.

The 2011 Hyundai Sonata has a wheelbase of 2795 millimeters, a length of 4820 millimeters, a height of 1470 millimeters and a width of 1835 millimeters.

The new generation of the Hyundai Sonata will get its power from a choice of either a 2.0 liter Theta II MPi petrol engine that has an output of 165 horsepower or a LPG version that has an output of only 144 horsepower. The South Korean automaker has stated that later on they plan to add a 2.4 liter Theta II GDI petrol engine that will be offered as standard for the North American market. It is important to mention that both engines will be mated to a six speed automatic transmission.

Some of the most important technologies that will be available with the 2011 Hyundai Sonata include a new PGS (Parking Guide System) that will allow the driver to avoid obstacles during parallel parking or when driving in reverse as the South Korean automaker promises, a VHD (Vehicle Dynamic Control) system with Hill start Assist Control and BRA (Brake Assist System).

The total price of the development of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata is of 372 million dollars. The development of the next generation Hyundai Sonata started back in 2005.

Hyundai hopes to sell 60.000 next generation Hyundai Sonatas in the KDM (Korean Domestic Market) just in the last couple of months left of this year. Starting from 2011, the Hyundai Sonata will hopefully be sold in 450.000 units per year worldwide thanks to the production that will start in a Chinese plant in early 2010 and in a plant located in Alabama.

The next generation Hyundai Sonata will have a price tag of between 17.600 dollars up to 21.450 dollars in South Korea.
