The Japanese automaker Honda has announced that they will be unveiling the CR-Z hybrid in October this year during the 2009 edition of the Tokyo Auto Show. This is good news for those of you who are nostalgic because the Honda CR-Z hybrid is practically the direct descendent of the legendary small coupe named Honda CR-X. The new Honda CR-Z will hit the JDM (Japanese Domestic market) in February 2010 while all the other markets will be reached by the hybrid coupe shortly afterwards. Still, at the 2009 edition of the Tokyo Auto Show we will only get to see a concept version, even if the concept version will be almost identical to the production ready model. It is also important to mention that the hybrid system of the Honda CR-Z will be based on electricity and gasoline.
For those of you who have a good memory, you will remember that the Japanese automaker already launched two years ago a concept version of the Honda CR-Z . More precisely, during the 2007 edition of the Tokyo Auto Show, Honda decided to present the CR-Z concept. The car that will make its public debut during the 2009 edition of the Tokyo Auto Show actually does not look very different in comparison to what we saw two years ago.
Still, we said that it does not look very different, not that it does not have any differences at all. Thus, the 2009 (2010?) Honda CR-Z has been restyled both at the front and the rear, as well as on its sides. This is just in order that the car looks as modern as possible, in order to not give anyone the opportunity to say about it that it is outdated.
Moving towards the interior, the Honda Insight inspired dashboard draw our attention at first. Except for that, the interior of the new Honda CR-Z is practically the same as the one of the 2007 concept.
The Honda CR-Z will get its power from a choice of a 1.5 liter petrol engine or a 1.3 liter gasoline engine (also used on the Honda Insight) combined with a powerful electric engine. Still, these are just speculations, we will have to wait until we get closer to the beginning of the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show.
