Mazda - the maker from Japan plans on becoming an important force car supplier for the UK police next year. With Mazda autos serving at the moment in 42 police departments and agencies of Government, for example HM Revenue and Customs, Mazda hopes now to get in the National Policing Improvement Agency car framework deal.
The key account manager at Mazda UK - Jason Jenkins said for the press 'Police forces and other organizations like Mazda vehicles because they are a sporty drive and have first class reliability. It is such attributes that have enabled the company to provide the vehicles that we have done to date, even though we are currently not part of the framework agreement'.
The builder supplies now 3 car monthly to law agencies, having the units most liked for the police force being Mazda5, Mazda3, Mazda6, Mazda2 and Mazda CX-7. Mazda delivered besides police a few autos to fire brigades in UK and NHS Trust fleet of ambulances.
If this holds up, Mazda expects to deliver 15 to 20 car monthly. The maker will make all the necessary moves towards getting ready for the contract, scheduled coming into effect next year, in March.
'We will not know until later this year or early in 2010 whether or not we will be included within the new agreement, but we are putting a lot of resources into obtaining approval and have exhibited at the annual National Association of Police Fleet Managers’ Conference'.
'We are currently focusing on supplying vehicles for covert operations, but in the future we will be looking to supply vehicles for frontline ‘blue light’ police duties. Such business is a growth area for Mazda'. Subscribe to Car news by Email |
