The Italian automaker Fiat decided it was time to show a huge photo gallery of its updated Grande Punto. More precisely, the Grande Punto was mechanically updated and cosmetically refreshed for 2010. Also, it was given a new name, more precisely Fiat Punto EVO. The 2010 Fiat Punto EVO has some exterior features including new alloy wheel designs, newly styled bumpers, a redesigned three piece grille, newly styled lights at the front and back. The 2010 Fiat Punto EVO made its world debut during the 2009 edition of the Frankfurt Auto Show that took place last month.
Moving on towards the interior, we get to see new fabric options, a redesigned dashboard, new seats, a new instrument cluster and a new center console.
Power for the 2010 Fiat Punto EVO will be offered by a substantial range of engines. The most important engine is a new 1.4 liter MultiAir petrol unit. Why is this engine so important you might ask? Well, this engine uses electro hydraulic valve management in order to lower the fuel consumption by taking control of the air directly by the inlet valves without using the throttle. Sounds very technical, I know. To get to the numbers, the Italian automaker claims that this engine will deliver 15% more torque and 10% more power than the regular 1.4 liter engine while having a lower level of carbon dioxide emission of 10%. Not bad, I might add. Another interesting engine is the 1.3 liter MultiJet diesel that, according to Fiat, has lower fuel consumption by 2%. It is important to mention that all the engines in the range are Euro 5 compliant.
The 2010 Fiat Punto EVO will also get a Blue&Me – TomTom infotainment system. The revised Fiat Punto EVO will hit the European market by the second half of October this year. Men, get your wallets ready.
