Well, this is very surprising news. It seems that the Italian lads working for Fiat did not waste any time and took severe measure in order to resurrect the Chrysler company. Thus, the Italian management in charge of the Chrysler Group announced this week that the Dodge brand will be split in two separate brands. Thus, the Chrysler Group now has four brands. More precisely, we are talking about Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge Ram and Dodge Car.
Ralph Gilles, Chief of Design of Chrysler has become President and CEO of the Dodge Car brand while Fred Diaz Jr. was named President and CEO of the Dodge Ram brand. Sergio Marchionne, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of both Fiat S.p.A and Chrysler Group LLC has stated that ``The brand-focused strategy has been refined further with the unbundling of the Dodge Brand which now consists of the Dodge Ram brand and the Dodge Car brand organizations``. He continued by saying that ``This reorganization will allow us to protect and develop the unique nature of the product offerings within the Dodge Brand``.
Olivier Francois has been appointed as CEO and President of the Chrysler brand. It seems that mister Olivier Francois will be the most important person in the Chrysler Group as he will also be the lead executive for the Marketing organization having to coordinate worldwide marketing strategies, brand development and advertising for all the four brands, Dodge Ram, Dodge Car, Jeep and Chrysler. In the same time, Olivier Francois will also remain the head of the Lancia brand which is part of the Fiat Group.
The only brand of the Chrysler Group that will not suffer any management changes is the Jeep brand which will be lead by Michael Manley.
These are very interesting moves done by Fiat. We will just have to wait and see how well will things go and especially how will the Dodge Ram and Dodge Car brands be greeted by car lovers worldwide.
