Nissan NV200 Vanette Taxi coming to Tokyo

The 41st edition of the Tokyo Auto Show is a very important event for the Japanese automakers, and Nissan is no exception. The Nissan stand at the 2009 edition of the Tokyo Auto Show will be filled with a lot of new models. Visitors will get to see the Nissan Fuga flagship sedan, the Nissan Leaf electric vehicle or the Nissan Land Glider concept amongst others. Now, the Japanese automaker has confirmed that they will be bringing another car to the Tokyo Auto Show. To be more correct, a van. We will get to see the new Nissan NV200 Vanette Taxi in just a couple of weeks, as soon as the Tokyo Auto Show will open its gates.

The Japanese automaker said that the Nissan NV200 Vanette has been created to support the ``ever more important needs`` of Japan`s elderly and disabled as it has numerous features like rails that allow easier access to enter and exit the vehicle. The Nissan NV200 Vanette Taxi will hit the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) before the end of 2009.

Unfortunately Nissan did not offer any photos except an exterior one, so we do not know if the interior of the Nissan NV200 Vanette Taxi will be the same as the interior of the Nissan NV200 Vanette. Still, from the looks of it, not too many things will be different in comparison to the standard Nissan NV200 Vanette launched back in April this year.

The standard Nissan NV200 Vanette gets its power from either a petrol engine or a diesel engine. The diesel engine is a 1.5 liter dCi unit that has an output of 86 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. This 1.5 liter dCi engine is also found on the Nissan Note and the Nissan Micra. The diesel engine is mated to a five speed manual gearbox. The petrol engine is a 1.6 liter HR16 unit that has an output of 108 horsepower and 153 Nm of torque. This gasoline engine is also found on the Nissan Micra, the Nissan Note and the Nissan Qashqai. The petrol engine is coupled to a five speed manual transmission.
