2010 Mazda 2 will get a facelift

The Japanese automaker Mazda released an official press statement where they announced the start of the production of the Mazda 2 supermini at its new plant located in Thailand. But this is not the subject of this article. With the official press statement, the Japanese automaker also released three photos of the Mazda 2 that will be produced at the Thailand plant. In these three photos we get to see that the Mazda 2 has received a very important facelift. The Mazda 2 is sold on the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) under the name Mazda Demio.

The Mazda 2 shown in those three pictures had a front which is very similar to the front of other Mazda models, like the Mazda CX-7, the Mazda RX-8, the Mazda 3 or the Mazda MX-5. More precisely, the front of the Mazda seems to be smiling thanks to a redesigned front bumper which incorporates much larger, vertical side air inlets and a five point lower grille. A beefy horizontal bar and the Mazda logo are located on the upper front grille.

It is extremely likely that the Japanese automaker has subtly refreshed the Mazda 2 in order to have some of the same styling patterns and cues as the rest of the models which are part of the Mazda family, even tough it is possible that this is just a special version for the Asian market, but this is highly unlikely.

What you have below are the three photos of the facelifted Mazda 2 and three other photos showing the current Mazda 2 which is sold on most of the markets of the world so that you can see the differences between the front of the two versions.
