Subaru SVX successor previewd by Hybrid Tourer concept

We all know that rumors appear everyday, especially in the auto world. Some of them turn out to be true, but the vast majority of rumors are just unfounded stories. To be honest, at how many rumors appear daily it would be impossible that one of them not to be right, because basically all the combinations possible and impossible appear almost everyday regarding the most important subjects of a certain period. We have here a very good example. Some rumors claim that Subaru will not be able to launch their own version of the Toyota FT-86 that was co-developed with Toyota due to the lack of money, while other rumors claim that Subaru will not only introduce their version of the Toyota FT-86, but another high end coupe model too. Now, who are we to believe? These two rumors are completely antagonistic. Practically, the two rumors contradict one another. So what is the case? Does Subaru have enough cash to launch their version of the Toyota FT-86 and another high end coupe model or are they lacking cash? Only time will tell, I guess.

For the moment, let us concentrate our attention upon the second rumor, which claims that Subaru will be launching another high end coupe model together with the sports coupe co-developed with Toyota. It seems that the high end Subaru coupe will be some sort of spiritual successor of the historical Subaru SVX. The rumors say that the Subaru SVX successor will be based on the Subaru Hybrid Tourer concept. For those of you who forgot, the Subaru Hybrid Tourer concept will make its world debut during the 41st edition of the Tokyo Auto Show that will take place this month.

The Subaru SVX was a mid size coupe that hit the market in 1991 until it was discontinued in 1997. The Subaru SVX got its power from a six cylinder boxer engine that had a capacity of 3.3 liters. The futuristic styled coupe was designed by the famous designer Giorgetto Giugiaro who was part of the ItalDesign company.
