Shanghai VW passed in 1998 the milestone of 1 million car while in 2002 June, it rolled out officially the 2 millionth vehicle. 3 years later, they had 3 million autos while last year in January, it reached the 4 millionth production unit.

Shanghai VW has headquarters up in Anting International Auto City, owning currently 4 car production factories, 1 engine plant, a center of technology plus a center of design. It makes 11 units from the VW brand name (Polo Jinqing, Cross Polo, Polo Jinqu, Lavida, Santana Vista, Santana, Touran and Passat New Lingyu) and Škoda brand (Superb, Octavia and Fabia).
