The third generation Renault Megane was launched back in 2008. Now, the British division of the French automaker has announced the pricing details for the sport version of the hatchback that are part of the RS (Renault Sport) range. The Renault Megane RS will be offered in two versions, more precisely the Renault Megane RS 250 that will have extra equipment and comes with a base price of 22.995 pounds and the Renault Megane RS 250 Cup which is the more hardcore version and comes with a base price of 21.995 pounds. Both versions of the Renault Megane RS come with a 2.0 liter four cylinder turbocharged engine that has an output of 250 horsepower at 5500 revs per minute and 340 Nm of torque at 3000 revs per minute. The Renault Megane RS will be available for order starting from the 1st of November while potential buyers will get their cars starting from January next year.
Thanks to the extremely powerful engine, the Renault Megane RS manages to cover a distance of 1000 meters starting from standstill in 25.7 seconds. The official performance figures claim that both the Renault Megane RS 250 and the Renault Megane RS 250 Cup are able to go accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. The powertrain is completed by a six speed manual gearbox and a front wheel drive system.
The Renault Megane RS 250 Cup, the more hardcore version of the two, comes with a Cup Suspension Pack that includes ``AX-L`` 18 inches x 8.25 inches alloy wheels in satin black, a limited slip differential, 235/40 Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires, stiffer springs, red finish to the Brembo brake calipers, dampers and anti roll bar and grooved discs. Other features of the Renault Megan RS 250 Cup include rear parking sensors, cruise control, ISOFIX child seat mounting, eight airbags, Bluetooth and RCA connection, RAID automatic door locking, 60W RDS MP3 compatible CD player with fingertip control, Brembo brakes, electrically operated and heated door mirrors, an ESP system and a Renault keycard. The Cup Suspension Pack combined with Recaro front seats is available optionally for the Renault Megane RS 250 too, for a price of 1950 pounds.
The more down to earth Renault Megane RS 250 comes with Multifunctional Tune Point, leather upholstery, tire pressure monitor, heated front seats, extra tinted tailgate and rear side windows, electrically adjustable driver`s seat with memory function, 225/40 Dunlop Sport Maxx TT tires, Renault Hands Free card, 18 inch Keza alloy wheels, dual zone climate control and automatic operation of the lights and wipers.
