2011 Buick Regal spotted during photo shoot in Michigan

It is extremely hard nowadays for automakers to keep a secret from the wide audience. We live in a period when the internet in general and social networking websites available worldwide in particular are extremely popular. It is enough that a single man to get a picture of a prototype or concept in order that the rest of the world to find out. This is the exact case here. A Facebook (one of those social networking websites I was talking about) user managed to get a photo of the 2011 Buick Regal in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, outside the Art Museum. After this photo was seen by everybody and they could not deny it anymore, Buick posted the exact same picture on their official Facebook page. This photo comes just a few days after General Motors officially announced that they will be bringing the Opel Insignia to the US market under the name Buick Regal.

The car shown in the pictures below is clearly based on the European Opel Insignia , having same shaped larger front grille and lower air inlets. Also, the car looks slightly different than the Chinese market Buick Regal. Still, we can not be sure if the car below is the real North American market model that will be launched in about one year.

The 2011 year model Buick Regal will be fit right under the Buick LaCrosse in the model range of Buick in terms of both size and price. The most probable launch period for the 2011 Buick Regal is either the end of the next year or the first months of 2011. The 2011 Buick Regal will be under the Buick LaCrosse because the Buick Regal is seven inches shorter than the Buick LaCrosse. To be more precise, the Buick Regal has a length of 4830 millimeters or 190 inches. Still, both the Buick Regal and the Buick LaCrosse use the same Epsilon 2 platform.
