The new dedicated hybrid - Toyota Sai

There are available on the network images of Toyota’s brand new Sai hybrid model before the car’s debut at the Tokyo Motor Show. It was announced previous month, Sai will be joining Prius in the lineup of Toyota as the carmaker’s dedicated hybrid autos.

Sai is a brand new car for Toyota, but actually it's based on the newly debuted Lexus HS 250h. Sai is powered therefor by the 2.4L 4-cylinder HS 250h engine – fitted to newest hybrid system from Toyota – that should net fuel average economy in the 35 mpg area. Mixed horsepower - 187.

Despite its roots from Lexus HS 250h, Sai's unique sports exterior and interior styling — albeit a bit more bland, if you compare it to its Lexus counterpart.

Sai's pricing has yet to be revealed but, if you think of the HS 250h's upscale nature and the bigger engine of Sai, the new unit is expected commanding a premium over the other dedicated Toyota hybrid car, the Prius. We don't know if Sai will hit the market in America.
