It's not about orders or sales numbers... The cheapest vehicle worldwide faces now its 1st possible important problem; and it's less than 6 months since the debut. A just-auto.com report says Nano models across India started catching fire, having at least 3 incidents by now.
A Delphi resident - Sunil Kumar Panwanda, complained that the Nano family bursted in real flames, right after (3 hours or so) being parked near the house, in front.
Panwanda told the television CNBC TV18: 'I had bought the car for my children and they are now terrified of driving it. I want the company to refund my money and take back the vehicle'.
His experience with the car was similar to the one Ravindra Bhagat has, who, for a reason real or not, blames that fire on the... size of the car. Perhaps because larger autos take longer to be captured by the flames?!
He reported to that same tv station. 'I bought the car because Ratan Tata drove and introduced it. I thought this small car will be convenient for daily use in the city. Now, I feel it is better to drive a big car. Even if I get a replacement, I will not accept it'.
Tata Motors explained calmly, through its spokesman voice - Debasis Ray: 'The car in New Delhi is still not available with us but the cars in Lucknow and Ahmedabad have been repaired and there was just a short circuit in the car's combination switch area' he reported to Hindustan Times.
'There is no question of recalling any of the cars as there is no technical or design fault with the car. This is not a generic problem'
Tata sold so far about 7,500 Nanos, delivering them locally. This is truly the first error reported involving them; Tata will not be recalling the cars. Subscribe to Car news by Email |
