Subaru Hybrid Tourer concept presented in Tokyo

Subaru could not miss out of the 2009 edition of the Tokyo Auto Show. One of their most important cars that made its official debut during the Asian auto show is the Subaru Hybrid Tourer concept. The Subaru Hybrid Tourer has a powertrain which consists of a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), an all wheel drive system and a 2.0 liter direct injection four cylinder turbocharged engine that is used to generate power together with a pair of electric motors, one for each axle. Obviously, the two electric engines get their juice from a high performance lithium ion battery. From what it seems, the Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept will is used to show the design language of the future models of the Japanese automaker.

The Subaru Hybrid Tourer can be moved by a combination of the gasoline engine and the two electric motors, the rear electric motor capable of developing 27 horsepower or the 2.0 liter engine by itself, depending on the driving situation. Unfortunately, we do not know the output of the gasoline engine, but we do know that the second electric motor has an output of 13 horsepower, so the two electric engines combined have an output of 40 horsepower.

The interior is classic for concept cars, being extremely futuristic. We get to see a very futuristic dashboard design, four individual seats and flat floor.
