Driving enthusiasts can be happy, as at the 2009 edition of the Tokyo Auto Show the Japanese automaker Subaru has publicly presented another special edition of the Subaru Impreza WRX STI. The special edition model is named Subaru Impreza WRX STI Carbon and, as the name suggests, has a lot of carbon fiber elements present. In order to achieve both a significant weight reduction and a lower center of gravity, Subaru claims that the rooftop of the Impreza which was made from a steel panel was replaced with carbon fiber. The Subaru Impreza WRX STI Carbon comes with a five speed automatic transmission.
Unfortunately for the rest of the world, the Subaru Impreza WRX STI Carbon will be a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) model exclusively. Other features include Recaro bucket sport seats and a suede wrapped dashboard amongst other feature of the full suede interior.
Apparently the limited edition version of the hot hatchback will not have any engine improvements. Still, the stock engine capable of developing 305 horsepower is more than enough for the needs of most drivers, even speed addicts. Pricing details or a release date were not revealed either.
