Volkswagen is awarding all its apprentices

Volkswagen – the German automaker presented the Best Apprentice Award 2009 to twenty-two apprentices from 11 states during a meeting with Global Group Works Council plus Group Board of Management. This event was at the VW factory in Zwickau, hosted by Martin Winterkorn, the firm's chairman of board.

Winterkorn now motivates Volkswagen's choices: 'Highly-qualified skilled employees are the foundation for our company’s success. That is why we train at all sites worldwide, creating perspectives for young people and simultaneously investing in the future of Volkswagen' .

The 22 are coming from Hungary, Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Uk, Slovakia, South Africa and Poland. They were housed all for five days in Germany, on the expense of Volkswagen and they will get 'a special program individually developed by the relevant Group companies'.

Volkswagen human resources' head - Horst Neumann affirmed 'Competition for the best talents is getting tougher. Vocational training and support is therefore one of our top priorities. We are continuing to improve the qualification and competence of our apprentices and are currently introducing trans-national standards for vocational training' .

'At Volkswagen we are proud of our apprentices. The company offers many opportunities for further qualification. We urge all of these young people to make use of this wide choice' Bernd Osterloh, VW Group Global Works Council said.
