4th of November 2009 Audi A5 Coupe is really a piece-of-art unit, at least if you're thinking about the design. Several vehicle analysts says so and the German Design Council agrees undoubtedly with that. So, it will present to its creator, a Design Award 2010 of the Federal Republic of Germany, no one else than Walter de Silva, the popular designer.
He stated for the press 'The Audi A5 Coupé is the most beautiful car I’ve ever designed and is well on its way to becoming a design icon. I’m therefore thrilled by this accolade, as it also validates my hard work'.
De Silva will receive the design award in a gala, in Frankfurt, at the International Ambiente Fair on 12th of February next year.
The designer said 'The A5 Coupé clearly has an automotive personality all its own. It is an absolute highlight of Audi’s progressive and stylish design language. The A5 is naturally a very powerful and supremely sporty automobile. Yet it isn’t the least bit aggressive or arrogant. It’s especially the way the shoulder line extends, with the back roof pillar flowing into it and the long transition to the short rear, which renders the A5 a typical grand tourer – a sophisticated touring sports car'.
Rolled out officially, Audi A5 Coupe was present at the Geneva Motor Show 2007 and rivals with Mercedes CLK and BMW 3-Series in the coupe luxury department. A S5 sportier version was also created in 2007, having a 354-PS 4.2L V8 powerplant Fuel Stratified Injection.
