800 HP Corvette Z06 GTR coming to SEMA Show

Las Vegas will be the center of attention for the next couple of days, as the 2009 edition of the SEMA Show will open its gates this week. After these past couple of weeks we got to see a large number of Asian cars, now we will be getting used, at least for the next week, to see a whole load of American muscle cars, but not just any muscle cars, but modified ones.

This particular car here is the Corvette Z06 GTR, which is the latest creation of Specter Werkes. For those of you who do not know, Specter Werkes is not a German tuning company as the name would suggest, but it is a tuning company that has its headquarters in Michigan and specializes in tuning General Motors cars. The Corvette Z06 GTR gets StopTech STR brake package that features a Corsa exhaust system with GTR specific exhaust tips, six piston front calipers and four piston rear calipers. This is mainly for helping the car to stop, as the Corvette Z06 GTR by Specter Werkes gets its power from a 7.0 liter LS7 V8 engine with a Lingenfelter twin turbo system that is capable of developing 800 horsepower. The Corvette Z06 GTR by Specter Werkes will be launched in production at the beginning of 2010.

In terms of styling, the Corvette Z06 GTR gets HRE carbon fiber wheels that weigh 22 lbs each with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Zero Pressure tires, a BASF pearl paint finish, a matt black rear fascia and matte-finish carbon fiber accents.

Unfortunately, no performance figures were released. I would be extremely curious to find out how fast can the Corvette Z06 GTR accelerate, as the stock Corvette Z06 that has an engine capable of developing only 505 horsepower manages to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h and to complete a quarter mile in 11.8 seconds. Quarter mile in under 10 seconds anyone?
