show, 600 HP Camaro prototype by Yenko coming to SEMA
4th of November 2009 Yenko was one of the most important custom muscle car shops of the late 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s. More precisely, some of the first Yenko projects appeared in 1965 while the last was in 1973. The Yenko headquarters was located in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Now, with the occasion of the 2009 edition of the SEMA Show that will take place in Las Vegas, it seems that the brand will be revitalized, as GMCI (General Marketing Capital Incorporated) announced its owners.
The project with which the legendary brand will participate at the SEMA Show will be a 600 horsepower 2010 Camaro SS prototype. The 2010 Yenko Camaro prototype will get a Phase I supercharged V8 engine capable of developing 600 horsepower. The powerful engine will be mated to a six peed manual gearbox made by Tremec.
Other technical features include high flow cat-back exhaust system by Magnaflow, a short throw shifter by Hurst and a six piston big brake package.
The styling improvements will include Yenko/SC embroidered floor mats, Yenko stripe package, sill plates, official emblems and badges, a leather interior package with Yenko Super Car (sYc) embroidered headrests and retro styled 22 inch billet aluminum wheels.
The prototype looks very interesting and it is always nice to see legendary names coming back to the business. We just hope that this is not a one type publicity stunt and that we will get to see more projects from Yenko and even production versions of some custom made muscle cars. You can see some photos of the 2010 Yenko Camaro prototype below.
